I ordered this book for self study, not for any class. There are no answers; they’re all in the instructor’s manual, which you cannot purchase if you’re not an instructor. Calls to the publisher were met with indifference. The book itself is great, but if I already knew the answers I wouldn’t have needed the book!

This book is presented by the American Medical Association. It is used by the college I attend for Medical Coding purposes. Granted the teacher we have is a poor excuse for one. This Book is also very complicated for the novice coder trying to learn how to use the book and/or coding. This book assumes you are already familiar with the issue of coding itself.

If you are looking for a good solid book to help you with the beginning stance of coding. I suggest: Glencoe Medical Insurance, Student Textbook (Paperback), Nenna Bayes as the writer. The ISBN is

I am taking a CPT coding class and my teacher is Ms.Rowell herself. I am so very pleased with this book, for it gives you step by step instructions in a very detailed manner. The layout is terrific, and the examples given in the book give you a sinerio that helps you put a real life situation into perspective. I have not found a better book that explains health insurance. If you are working in a “billing” environment, you should have this book.

As a nursing student, I have to put a ton of time into memorizing anatomical terms and the names of different medical conditions. Medical Terminology For Dummies really helped me through some of my courses as a desk reference because it has really quick and easy-to-remember definitions, a plus when you’re having to study for an exam and your textbooks are thousands of pages long. I would definitely recommend this book to medical and nursing students, and others in the medical community that need a handy and easy-to-use desk reference.
